Our GOAL is to have a well-organized, clean, safe, fun festival. To do this we need 700+ volunteers who want to help create a foundation for love & peace to flourish.

  • Your weekend ticket
  • A way to FEEL GOOD for helping the Heron
  • A chance to widen your circle of Heron friends
  • Early entry on Thursday

  • Twelve hours during fest, or fifteen hours pre or post fest
(Many crew members give lots more hours than required); we appreciate this immensely!
  • Your commitment to support your crew & be present when scheduled

If you’re an experienced money handler, come help us greet our guests. We’re proud of how efficiently our gates run, and it does take “high functioning folks” to handle the fast pace and make correct change while they’re doing it! Most everyone loves this job though, because people are so excited to be finally arriving for the festival.

This crew helps keep the peace, check wristbands and ensure the safety of our guests. We work around-the-clock, so let us know if you are a night owl or an early bird. We hire a professional crew to handle the tough stuff and support our efforts, so having previous security training or certification is not necessary. “Show your wristband!” is our mantra.

Help move them in and move them out. Be friendly and show them where to park or camp. It’s pretty easy. We need more dependable people for Saturday and Sunday shifts and possibly an additional shift captain for those days.

If you are certified in First Aid, Nursing, or EMT, or if you have experience in first aid, please apply. This is an around-the-clock crew working out of our First Aid building. The Sherman Fire Department supports our volunteer crew when needed. We appreciate everyone’s help making the festival site safe for all attendees, especially our young ones. Rest in Peace Dave White (back row). We miss you so much.

Certified Life Guards make up the volunteer part of this crew, though we can use some “beach helpers” (16 year old minimum), with Basic First Aid and CPR training. Keeping our families safe at the waterfront is a very important task!

We are looking for festival veterans for HQ; people familiar with the workings of the festival and property. This crew is busy for about 10 days, including pre and post fest responsibilities, and we’d like to find a few new people willing to work more than 12 hours. We handle the phones, cart & radio equipment, tool room inventory and Lost & Found. Let us know if you are a good sign maker.

If you have lots of farm tractor experience or would like to be a “Rider” on the wagon who watches out for safety, this is a crew for you.

We keep the festival clean and beautiful by setting up and maintaining recycling stations, sorting and packing returnables, & grooming the grounds. Rainbow Recycling headquarters is near the main stage so you can always enjoy the music! We’re looking for dependable overnighters and post-fest workers.

Hospitality has two parts including food/beverage and Stagehands.  Folks with experience in food prep, serving and clean-up, please apply for Hospitality/food. We especially appreciate volunteers who can see what needs to be done to keep the backstage areas clean and looking good without being told. For Stagehands, we need people with skills around stages and productions. You need to be capable of carrying heavy/expensive equipment, carefully. Listening skills, teamwork, and boots are essential to applying for this position. This position is available only during the 3 days of music production for a total of 12 hours.

Volunteer positions are available as Performer Liaisons. Liaison volunteers help load equipment in & out, tend to the needs of our artists, and transport them to and from stages. This volunteer crew commits to 3 full days. There is some down time during shows, but you must watch the clock and show up as needed, no matter what. You also need to be able to lift many heavy objects and have fun while doing it! We strive to make our artists happy and comfortable, so we get the BEST possible show for our patrons!

The Heron’s food vending crew serves up tasty burgers, burritos and more to our hungry crowds. The menu includes items that serve products from the farm including our very own grass fed beef. The crew has jobs that include chopping produce (prepping), stocking supplies (runner), dishwashing, running the register, BluRitto making and cooking burgers on a flattop grill.

Our new beer garden crew needs beer and cider servers that are New York State TIP Certified. Certification can be provided. Must be over 21 and experience serving alcohol is a plus.

These folks sell coffee, tea, soda, fresh pizza and homemade goodies at the Tiger Maple Stage in the woods. Cash register experience is useful. Late night people and early risers appreciated here!

This site is located in the heart of the woods. The crew provides a fun and safe space for guests to dance and drum around an artistically built fire. We require crew members to be experienced around large fires. The crew works three overnight shifts during the Festival.

Merch booth would like a few highly responsible new people who have retail and cash register skills. Our products include the band’s CDs and merch and the official Blue Heron tee shirts, hats, etc., plus ice and water. We have the best location possible to work and listen to music at the same time.

We’re looking for energetic and creative volunteers to hang with our lively teen population. You must be at least 25 years old for this crew. We offer lots of games and craft projects for our young people and need volunteers to be involved and facilitate these. Our Saturday night beach party needs adult supervision, too.

Those of you who love the little ones and have teaching, art, or craft experience would enjoy this crew. We are always looking for new projects and project leaders for our 400+ festival goers under the age of 12.

We need people who have office skills and who are able to schedule and process volunteer applications in May and June!  At festival time, this crew is out at the gates checking people in. On festival Sunday and Monday, we are doing refunds.  If you have good people skills and love to see The Heron well organized, this is the crew for you.
